About the project We are developing Flowland and we are looking for a Product Designer to create a small collection of cardboard pieces. These pieces are objects of approximately 30–35 cm each that will be used as physical models during talks and workshops. There will be one single print/production run of this set, which will be assembled and transported by the speaker, so the disassembled pieces should be easy to pack and carry on airplanes or trains. We will attach a PDF with an approximate image of how we imagine the pieces, but this is only a reference. We are open to your artistic and design choices regarding form, proportions and details. Even though the reference image is flat, the final pieces will be colored and include printed adhesive graphics, so the structural design should accommodate this. PLUS: We are especially interested in someone who has experience with educational projects or visual arts projects, and who is willing to bring their own creativity, sensitivity and visual language into the Flowland universe. Familiarity or affinity with visual design and contemporary visual arts is considered a strong plus. Pieces to be developed: Mailbox; Tree; Pendulum (small swinging piece); Curved path; Small table; Half-cylinder and a Small cave. All pieces are conceived as objects in a set, placed on a table or surface. Professional requirements: - Proven experience in Product Design, Industrial Design, or a closely related field - Familiarity with developing dielines / 2D cutting files and with the basic technical limitations of structural cardboard. - Ability to think in terms of object families/sets, with coherent proportions and visual language across multiple pieces. - Affinity or collaboration experience with visual/graphic design and visual arts is a strong plus. - Good communication skills for technical alignment and feedback. Deliverables: - Design concept and guidelines - A short set of boards/pages showing overall views of each piece, the full set together, and how they relate visually (scale, proportions and color). - 3D modelling - Simple 3D models of all pieces (e.g. STEP, OBJ, or similar), sufficient for visualisation, volumetric checking and internal approval. - 2D cutting files (dielines) - Vector files in PDF/AI/DXF (or equivalent) for each piece, with cutting and scoring lines clearly differentiated. - Layout of cutting plans considering sheet dimensions. - Files indicating which colors should be painted/applied Revisions & meetings - Up to 2 rounds of adjustments (shape, slots, minor dimensional tweaks), to be carried out according to an agreed timeline. - Meeting to align perspectives and review early concepts/prototypes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a fixed-price project, but we have more upcoming assignments within the Flowland project, and the selected professional may be invited to collaborate again if the workflow goes well.
