Note: I’m listing the tasks in detail for clarity, but this is actually a simple job for someone with basic to intermediate skills in Photoshop + InDesign (or Affinity Publisher). I’m looking for a designer with experience in editorial layout and image retouching to prepare a faithful reproduction of an Argentine magazine from 1932 (Caras y Caretas), starting from a scanned PDF. ⸻ 📌 Main Tasks • 🧽 Image cleaning in Photoshop • Neatly remove “Biblioteca Nacional de España” stamps or inscriptions at the bottom of each page. • Preserve the original paper texture and tone. • Adjust contrast if needed to even out the background. • 🧱 Layout in InDesign / Affinity Publisher • Set up the document at final size 18 × 26 cm, with 3 mm bleed on all sides and crop marks. • Use facing pages (even pages on the left, odd pages on the right). • Suggested margins: 2.0 cm inner, 1.5 cm outer, 1.5 cm top, 2.0 cm bottom (can be adjusted slightly while maintaining the historical proportion). • Apply a light aged ivory background to all pages. • Change pure black text to dark gray to mimic historical letterpress ink. • 🎨 Aging effect (key) • Add irregular, non-repeating stains and paper textures to give the magazine an authentic aged look. • Use real paper texture overlays (PNG/TIFF) in Multiply blending mode, with moderate opacity. • Do not cover or obscure any text or illustrations — full legibility must remain. • Avoid generic “sepia filters” or modern-looking effects. • 🧾 Final print-ready PDF export • Total of 28 pages (including cover and back cover). • 300 dpi, PDF/X-1a or similar. • Includes bleed and crop marks, no white edges. • Sequential page order (1–28); the printer will handle imposition. ⸻ 🟡 Requirements • Solid knowledge of Photoshop (image cleaning and retouching). • Intermediate knowledge of InDesign or Affinity Publisher (editorial layout). • Basic understanding of bleed, facing pages, and print prep. • Attention to historical accuracy: typography, margins, and 1930s aesthetics. • Deliver a print-ready PDF. ⸻ 📅 Estimated timeline Single project — 28 pages total. If the result is good, there will likely be similar future projects. ⸻ 📎 Important This is not modern design work: the goal is to faithfully replicate the look and feel of a 1932 magazine, including paper tone and subtle, realistic aging effects. ⸻ 📩 To apply, please send: • Samples of similar work (facsimiles, image cleaning, editorial layout, etc.). • Your proposed price and turnaround time. • Which tools you use (Photoshop + InDesign or Affinity).
