- We are seeking a visionary and transformational Director of Infrastructure Architecture to lead a large-scale modernization effort and define the strategic direction for our enterprise technology platforms. This executive leadership role is responsible for guiding a team of architects to re-imagine and rebuild our core infrastructure across a multi-cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid landscape, with a focus on cloud-native technologies like Kubernetes. More than a technologist, you will be a business-focused leader who translates complex technology into tangible outcomes, building strong stakeholder engagement to ensure infrastructure is a key driver of business innovation, operational efficiency, and competitive advantage.
Strategic & Architectural Leadership
- Lead and own the enterprise-wide infrastructure modernization strategy to create a clear roadmap for application migration and platform transformation.
- Serve as a primary technology evangelist, building consensus and articulating the business value of modernization initiatives, including containerization and cloud adoption, to executive leadership and key business partners.
- Champion innovation by supporting emerging technology platforms in areas like AIOps and generative AI, creating compelling business cases for their adoption.
- Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture framework, technology portfolio, and good governance, including roadmaps, standards, health assessments, and patterns that enable business agility and velocity.
Executive Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of architects, fostering a culture of growth, ownership, business acumen, and collaborative partnership.
- Build and nurture deep, trust-based relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including C-level executives, business unit leaders, and application development teams, to ensure architectural alignment with enterprise-wide goals.
- Be a strong influencer, effectively communicating complex technical strategies in terms of business value and skillfully navigating organizational dynamics to drive consensus and adoption.
- Act as a strategic partner to business and technology leaders, translating their needs into actionable infrastructure strategies and proactively identifying opportunities for technology to create new business capabilities.
Multi-Cloud & Platform Architecture Oversight
- Lead a team of architects to ensure deep expertise and architectural integrity across all platforms, ensuring they are designed to meet business-defined service levels and strategic goals.
- Containerization & Cloud-Native Platforms: Drive the strategy and architecture for our enterprise container platform built on Kubernetes, enabling developer self-service, application portability, and operational efficiency across the multi-cloud landscape.
- Automation & AIOps: Champion a strategy of hyper-automation and lead the implementation of AIOps platforms to enhance operational efficiency, predict issues, and improve system resilience.
- AI Infrastructure: Lead the architectural design for AI/ML infrastructure, providing the robust and scalable platforms required to power advanced AI models and deliver business insights.
- Mainframe & Mid-Range Migration: Lead the migration strategy of legacy platforms, applying sound principals and analysis to develop business-centric strategies for modernization and migration to cloud-native services and SaaS.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is required.
- Strong experience in information technology, with a focus on infrastructure engineering and architecture.
- Experience formal architecture role (e.g., Enterprise Architect, Principal Architect).
- Experience in a leadership capacity with a proven track record of managing and mentoring senior technical staff.
- Demonstrable experience leading a large-scale infrastructure modernization program.
Technical Skills
- Containerization & Orchestration: Deep expertise in container technologies (Docker) and orchestration platforms, specifically Kubernetes (e.g., EKS, GKE, AKS), including architecture, security, and ecosystem tooling.
- Multi-Cloud Computing: Expert knowledge of multi-cloud architecture (IaaS, PaaS) on AWS, Azure, and GCP, including migration/modernization frameworks (e.g., 7 R's), security, and cost management (FinOps).
- AI/ML & AIOps: Deep familiarity with AIOps platforms and automation concepts.
- Site Reliability & DevOps: Solid understanding of SRE principles, observability, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible.
Soft Skills & Leadership Qualities
- Executive Presence & Communication: The ability to command a room, articulate complex ideas with clarity, and present compelling business cases to C-level audiences.
- Influence & Stakeholder Engagement: Proven ability to build consensus across diverse teams with competing priorities and influence decision-making at all levels of the organization.
- Business Acumen: A strong understanding of business fundamentals and the ability to connect technology investments to tangible business outcomes (ROI, TCO).
- Transformational Leadership: A track record of leading, mentoring, and inspiring technical teams, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and business-focused problem-solving.
- Strategic Vision: The ability to see beyond immediate technical challenges to anticipate future business needs and design long-term, scalable solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant technical or business field (e.g., MBA).
- Professional architecture certifications (e.g., TOGAF) and expert-level cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
- Experience managing departmental budgets and participating in financial planning.
