We’re looking for an experienced Full-Stack or Front-End Developer to upgrade and optimize swampum.com, a growing community-driven platform for second-hand item exchange. This is a milestone-based project for Q4 2025 focused on improving UX, responsiveness, and performance before our marketing rollout. You’ll be responsible for implementing Google OAuth2 login, improving responsive layouts, redesigning item cards, restoring our sharing feature, and building a WebP image optimization workflow. All work happens in a staging-first environment, with clear documentation, weekly updates, and milestone-based reviews. Scope: - Implement Google Login (OAuth2) with secure linking and logout functionality. - Overhaul responsive grid layouts across all device sizes. - Redesign item cards to match Swampum’s new UI guidelines. - Restore the “Share These Items” button for user inventories and lists. - Create an automatic WebP image conversion pipeline with fallback for older browsers. - Maintain documentation and changelog for all implemented features. Requirements: - Proven experience implementing OAuth2 / Google Identity Services in production. - Strong skills in HTML5, CSS Grid/Flexbox, JavaScript/TypeScript. - Experience optimizing layouts and improving Core Web Vitals. - Familiar with image compression, caching, and lazy loading. - Organized, reliable, and proactive communicator. - Comfortable working on milestone-based contracts with review checkpoints. - Must maintain frequent communication (short progress updates every 2–3 days). Nice to have: - Background in community or marketplace platforms. - Experience with Node.js / Express (backend integration). - Awareness of accessibility standards and QA workflows. - Previous experience working with Bitbucket or similar repositories. What we’ll provide: - Swampum Q4 Action Brief (technical requirements, guides, milestones details) for refined time/cost estimates. - Staging environment and Bitbucket access. - Brand guidelines and design identity. - Direct communication via Telegram & Upwork messages. - Weekly feedback sessions after each milestone submission. - Transparent review and acceptance process (staging validation before payment). Timeline: - Start date: mid-November 2025 - Duration: 6–8 weeks (Q4 sprint) - Milestones: 5 total, each independently reviewed and paid - Developers will first consider the Swampum Action Brief to finalize quotes and timelines per milestone. Why this project? You’ll work on a live, evolving community platform with an active user base and a defined roadmap. The tasks are clear, technical, and deliverable-based — ideal for developers who enjoy building structured, visible improvements that directly impact UX and performance. Swampum values: - Clean, modular code (no shortcuts or quick fixes) - Open communication and milestone ownership - Collaborative iteration (frequent feedback, QA integration) This is a great opportunity to contribute to a startup that combines technical challenge with community impact. To apply: Send a short proposal including: - Links to 2–3 relevant projects (especially with responsive layouts or OAuth2). - A brief note on your experience with WebP optimization or similar performance improvements. - Your estimated hours and cost per milestone - Your availability for November–December 2025 and preferred working hours or time zone. - Please include the word “COCOA” in the last line of your proposal so we can filter your submission from auto-reply candidates. Shortlisted developers will be contacted for a 30–45 minute interview before final quoting.
