  • Job Description
  • This position truly represents the best of O-I. As a GNL, you will be fluent in the O-I Way of operating, understand deeply our Manufacturing Fundamentals and be capable of building strong connections with O-I colleagues & joint venture / licensee personnel around the globe. Always promoting a safety first culture.
  • Viewed primarily as a Technical Expert in the area of Batch & Furnace, you are expected to be fully proficient across the very broad range of topics within. From design inception & project execution, through all aspects of daily in plant operations & maintenance over the entire asset lifecycle and finally, on to the decommissioning/demolition. You will be capable of servicing requests from all levels within the business regarding this discipline, always sharing knowledge and capturing improvement opportunities.

  • You shall constantly review and capture the best of what we do, but must also capture learnings from mistakes & incidents in the field with the aim of preventing reoccurrence. Always closing the loop.
  • Working closely & effectively with other disciplines always ensuring the best outcome for the business is mandatory.
  • Nurturing relationships at all levels is fundamental. We need to foster strong connections, particularly within our Global Furnace Network and Melting Process Area to be effective.
  • You will lead a particular area of focus within the Discipline, you will be the considered this subject matter expert. This topic will be a focus for strengthening our in plant operations but also continued personal development and growth.
  • As GNL, you will play a key role in the team responsible for supporting our Joint Ventures & Licensee Plants around the world. They reach out to us for training support, operational guidance & strategies and for troubleshooting. In this capacity once again, you will fully represent the O-I.
  • On site support of activities will be required, you will support as and when needed, for only as long as is necessary.
  • SCOPE AND IMPACT
  • As a GNL for Furnace, you are expected to provide a very practical technical link with our Melting Process Areas. You should have the ability to simplify complexity. As an operations expert, your deep knowledge & experiences from working hands on in the field is what sets you apart. You must leverage this hard earned, practical know how, to steer Engineering & Business decisions for the benefit of the company.
  • Training creation & delivery must impact the targeted audience in a positive way. You have a responsibility to equip people with the necessary knowledge & tools to perform well in their roles, pitching at the correct level to ensure maximum understanding of expectations. Both within O-I and to our Licensee / JV’s.
  • You must be capable of providing technical leadership for planned GME Focus projects, Licensee / JV’s as well as supporting unexpected upsets in the field.
  • Ultimately, the impact of your role should result in safer, healthier, happier, high performing Batch & Furnace Departments.
  • Qualifications
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Ceramics, Chemical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Batch & Furnace operations in a Plant.
  • Proficient in English language.
  • Lean Six Sigma (LSS) certification.
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) skills.
