Tech stack focus: HLS / MPEG-TS streaming NGINX / OpenResty (Lua) FFmpeg Edge caching (RAM/tmpfs optional) Goal: Implement an efficient cache system for .ts segments at the edge, ensuring: Only 1 stable connection to the origin whenever possible. Identical caching behavior to current .m3u8 playlists. Reduced load on the origin and optimized latency for video players. Required Skills Advanced NGINX rewrite rules & configuration. proxy_cache / ngx_cache_purge tuning or Lua-based caching solutions. Validation using curl/Range requests. Concurrency management, cache TTL, and purge strategies. Setting up tmpfs/RAM caching with fallback to disk. Nice to Have Prior experience building custom CDNs (Nimble, Wowza, Flussonic, Gcore, Akamai DIY). Optimized edge servers for high throughput (10k concurrent connections). Knowledge of hierarchical cache (parent/child cache) setups. Network/kernel tuning (epoll, TCP backlog, SO_REUSEPORT).
