- Transform product ideas into clear visual concepts and precise, manufacturable 3D models. This role is first and foremost about concept visualization, 3D CAD, and user-centered design. Manufacturing coordination and competitive research are supportive, secondary functions.
- Key Responsibilities (Primary)
- Concept Visualization
- Translate initial product ideas into clear, visually engaging sketches/drawings—serving as the bridge from raw innovation to a design everyone can see and understand.
- 3D Modeling & CAD
- Build precise CAD models (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, AutoCAD or similar) that are dimensionally accurate and manufacturable, including the measurements and technical details required for production.
- User-Centered Design
- Apply best practices in ergonomics and user interaction so final designs are not only beautiful but practical, intuitive, and comfortable to use.
- Secondary Responsibilities (Supportive)
- Manufacturing Handoff & Follow-Through
- Package models, drawings, and specs for suppliers; answer questions and track revisions to maintain intent and fit/function through early samples. (Not a quality role.)
- Market/Competitive Research (as needed)
- Perform targeted research to inform unique functions, features, and brand-aligned decisions.
- Education/Experience: Bachelor’s in Industrial/Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Track Record: 3+ years designing consumer products from concept through CAD to early production/samples.
- CAD Mastery: Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, Fusion 360, AutoCAD (or comparable), including assemblies, tolerances, and drawing packages.
- Communication: Clear written and verbal skills; able to document decisions, version control, and supplier-facing notes.
- Execution: Demonstrated ability to deliver accurate, manufacturable models on tight timelines.
- Portfolio (include sketches and CAD for consumer products)
- Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with injection molding, mechanisms, or consumer product assemblies.
- Experience preparing design packs for overseas manufacturing partners.
- Exposure to packaging or instructions that communicate function clearly.
- How We Innovate (What to Expect)
- We are a product-first, innovation-led team. Designers are expected to think beyond execution—bringing fresh perspectives, exploring alternatives, and proposing forward-looking solutions that help us lead our category. You will own outcomes, not just deliverables.
- What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days)
- Concepts consistently translated into clear sketches and clean, reviewable mockups.
- CAD models delivered on time, to spec, ready for supplier review with clean version control.
- Early samples reflect design intent with minimal rework and a concise revision history.
- Career Path & Impact
- Success in this role opens opportunities to lead design initiatives across new product categories, mentor junior designers, and shape standards for design-for-manufacture across the organization.
- What We’re Looking For (Fit)
- Strong background in industrial design with fluent CAD modeling.
- Proven experience turning conceptual ideas into tangible, manufacturable designs.
- Blend of creative vision and practical rigor with high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Collaborative working style; thrives on bringing ideas to life with cross-functional partners.
- Remote Work: Work from anywhere—our team is global, and we value work-life balance.
