Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Power BI Developer to join our Data and Analytics team as a contractor operating in a full-time capacity. The successful candidate will design, develop, and maintain dashboards that enable informed decision-making across Sales, Finance, Marketing, Product, and Customer Experience. You will guide our Power BI strategy to ensure solutions are scalable, reliable, and aligned with business needs. Close collaboration with stakeholders is essential for translating complex analytical requirements into intuitive and impactful data products. Key Responsibilities Power BI Development and Data Modeling Collaborate with business stakeholders to capture analytical needs and convert them into effective Power BI solutions Build and maintain scalable semantic models using DAX, Power Query, and Snowflake Design star schemas and dimensional models optimized for analytics Create advanced measures, calculated columns, calculated tables, and field parameters Implement bookmarks, drill-through features, and rich interactivity Performance Optimization and Troubleshooting Debug and optimize complex DAX to consistently achieve sub-1000ms query performance Use tools such as DAX Studio, Performance Analyzer, and Tabular Editor to identify performance issues Improve data model performance through efficient design, relationship management, and column optimization Investigate and resolve issues across the Power BI ecosystem Advanced Power Query (M) Development Write, optimize, and debug complex M transformations in the Advanced Editor Create reusable functions and modular transformation patterns Build dynamic, parameterized queries Implement incremental refresh and efficient refresh strategies Data Governance and Security Apply governance standards across roles, definitions, and access Implement row-level and object-level security Maintain naming conventions, documentation, and best practices Support certification and endorsement workflows Manage workspace access, permissions, and content sharing policies Quality Assurance and Testing Lead testing activities to ensure successful adoption of new reports Create and execute test plans for functionality, performance, and data accuracy Perform regression testing when enhancing existing reports Validate data against source systems and document findings Training and Stakeholder Engagement Deliver training sessions and onboarding for report users Develop documentation, video walkthroughs, and quick reference materials Gather feedback and iterate on report designs Act as a subject matter expert for Power BI and data modeling best practices Required Experience Technical Skills Expert Power BI skills Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, JavaScript, and Azure data services Deep DAX expertise with proven ability to optimize performance Advanced Power Query skills including complex M coding Strong SQL skills for Snowflake and understanding of warehouse concepts Knowledge of Power BI governance, security, and administration Experience with performance tools such as DAX Studio and Tabular Editor Highly Desirable Experience with NetSuite or Salesforce data models Strong understanding of REST APIs and data integration principles Experience with Azure Synapse or other Azure data services Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions Knowledge of metadata and data catalog concepts Professional Background At least 5 years of hands-on experience in Power BI development with a focus on modeling and visualization Proven history of building high-performance analytical solutions Experience in SaaS, manufacturing, or technology companies is preferred Soft Skills Strong problem-solving and systems thinking Excellent communication skills High attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities Collaborative and supportive mindset Commitment to continuous learning What We Offer Opportunity to influence data strategy in a growing manufacturing SaaS company Work with modern technologies across both business and technical domains Collaborative culture with direct impact on key decisions A flexible and supportive environment focused on learning and growth If you are passionate about data, analytics, and empowering business decisions, we encourage you to apply!
