OVERVIEW

  • The Programmatic Advertising Strategist (Retail Media) is a seasoned, data-driven professional responsible for developing and executing strategic programmatic advertising initiatives within the retail media landscape. This role is essential in designing and scaling high-performance programmatic strategies, creating full-funnel commerce solutions, and delivering measurable results for clients.
  • The Senior Strategist will utilize expertise in platforms such as Amazon DSP, The Trade Desk, advanced measurement tools, and the broader retail media ecosystem to deliver innovative solutions aligned with clients' business objectives. As a key partner to clients, internal teams, and retail media platforms, this position plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of programmatic advertising within the organization.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5-8 years of experience in programmatic advertising, including 2-3 years managing programmatic retail media (onsite or offsite) across the full campaign life cycle (strategy and activation).
  • 5+ years in a client-facing role, with a preference for experience managing medium to large-sized brands.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with business intelligence (BI) or data analytics to drive data-informed decisions.
  • Strong understanding of Demand Side Platforms (DSPs), including retailer-native (Amazon DSP, Walmart) and non-retailer specific platforms (The Trade Desk, Criteo Commerce Max) for setup and optimization.
  • Proven experience managing a variety of programmatic channels (Display, Video - STV/OTT, Audio, Native, DOOH) and a strategic understanding of deploying these channels to achieve client KPIs.
  • Expertise in using Amazon Marketing Cloud for audience insights and reporting.
  • Ability to connect full-funnel marketing efforts (search and display) to retailer-specific sales goals and performance.
  • Deep familiarity with commerce platforms and reporting tools such as Amazon, Walmart Connect, Target-Roundel, Kroger Precision Marketing, Instacart Ads, and others.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a demonstrated capacity for working autonomously.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a proven track record of presenting and selling ideas clearly to clients and internal teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive under tight deadlines.
  • A strong desire to work in a fast-paced, evolving industry that presents new challenges and opportunities.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Play a key role within a rapidly growing programmatic advertising team, refining processes and structures to support continued success.
  • Lead the development, execution, and optimization of programmatic display and video campaigns the Amazon DSP console.
  • Drive full-funnel commerce strategies for planning and activating Amazon DSP campaigns, collaborating with retail search teams for seamless integration.
  • Utilize Amazon Marketing Cloud (AMC) to activate custom audiences and implement advanced programmatic strategies with supported insights and learnings from the campaigns/audiences.
  • Manage regular client communications to review programmatic performance, discuss business trends, and identify growth opportunities across channels.
  • Oversee programmatic input for annual media plans, ensuring alignment with a comprehensive marketing strategy.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve client business performance through innovative, data-driven solutions.
  • Build strong relationships with Amazon and the CS teams, collaborating on new strategies to drive client success.
  • Lead DSP updates during integrated reporting sessions, such as QBRs and annual planning meetings.
  • Guide account strategy development, including budget planning, KPI setting, audience testing, and industry/category trend analysis.
  • Drive new business development and client expansion opportunities.
  • Leverage reporting, analytics, and competitive analysis tools to refine strategies and achieve measurable results.
  • Contribute to the success of medium- and large-sized client businesses by delivering innovative programmatic solutions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Provide feedback on product development and user experience based on insights gathered from client interactions and campaign performance.
