  • We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Regulatory Officer (Telecom) to join our global legal and regulatory team. This pivotal individual contributor role will allow you to independently manage complex regulatory matters, with an initial priority on the Latin-American (LATAM) region while supporting broader international initiatives.
  • You will act as a key subject matter expert on telecoms and cloud communications regulation (particularly numbering and VoIP services). This is a unique opportunity for a regulatory professional who thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys navigating uncharted regulatory territories, and is eager to shape market strategies in a rapidly evolving digital communications landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will monitor, interpret and advise on new and evolving telecoms legislation globally with LATAM priority, and assess its impact on the business
  • Proactively engage with regulators, government authorities and industry bodies to obtain licenses, resolve ambiguities and represent the company’s interests
  • Act independently in countries or regulatory frameworks with little or no precedent, providing practical, commercially sound advice
  • Support and guide cross-functional teams (e.g. product, sales, carrier relations) by providing practical regulatory input to help shape market entry strategies and ensure operational compliance
  • Manage regulatory applications, licenses, reporting obligations and related processes, often coordinating with local counsel or consultants
  • Identify regulatory risks and propose mitigation strategies in close collaboration with internal stakeholders
  • Contribute to commercial and supplier agreements, particularly those relating to compliance, regulatory undertakings and numbering
  • Develop internal policies, templates and playbooks to scale compliance practices across jurisdictions
  • Support the business in expanding to new territories beyond LATAM as required

Essential Requirements

  • You have at least 5 years of experience in telecoms regulation, ideally gained in-house or with a reputable law firm or consultancy
  • Fluency in English and Spanish
  • Proven expertise in cloud communications and numbering regulation, including VoIP and global SIP services
  • Demonstrated ability to act with autonomy and strategic foresight, even in the absence of clear legal frameworks
  • Experience of liaising directly with telecoms regulators and managing complex licensing processes
  • Exceptional written communication skills, capable of delivering concise, clear and well-structured written guidance tailored to the audience, whether internal business teams, external counsel or regulators
  • Can distil and explain complex regulatory issues in plain, accessible language
  • LATAM regulatory experience preferred; global exposure advantageous
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders
  • A collaborative mindset and a willingness to share knowledge
  • Unafraid to take the initiative, challenge existing practices and take ownership of outcomes from start to finish
  • Legal degree or equivalent qualification required
