  • Build the future of autonomous cybersecurity with us! We’re looking for a senior-level Python developer to contribute to one of the most ambitious security automation initiatives in the industry—turning an AI-generated prototype into a production-grade platform and shaping the next generation of automated risk analysis tools.
  • At Stack Builders, your initiatives are valued, your voice is heard, and you’re supported in exploring your potential and growing. You will collaborate directly with the client’s security product lead in an agile, highly technical environment focused on automation, data engineering, and AI-augmented development. You’ll be deeply involved in all aspects of the engineering process—from clarifying detection logic and ingestion requirements to building scalable pipelines, workflow engines, and automated response systems.
  • Ready for this Python challenge? We will give you the resources, autonomy, and flexibility needed to do your best work. Keep reading!
  • The projected hourly range for this position is $40.00 to $48.00, determined by the candidate's interview outcome, skills, experience, education, and alignment with market data.
  • You are highly proficient in Python 3.10+ and experienced in building large, production-grade backend systems.
  • You have experience with data ingestion pipelines, REST APIs, event/log processing, or message queues.
  • You have hands-on experience with Elasticsearch / Kibana, or similar search/analytics platforms.
  • You are comfortable working with MongoDB and ideally have experience with MongoEngine or another ODM.
  • You understand or have worked with SOC, SIEM, SOAR, EDR, or incident response tooling.
  • You can integrate with third-party APIs and manage auth, throttling, error handling, retries, and async patterns.
  • Experience working in or extending a large existing codebase (~50K lines).
  • You have familiarity with workflow/orchestration engines (custom or Python ecosystem).
  • AI-First Mindset
  • You are comfortable using AI coding tools (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT) as part of your daily workflow.
  • You can direct AI with clear prompting, refine its output, and detect subtle correctness or security issues.
  • You value AI as a productivity multiplier—not a crutch—and you never copy AI output blindly.
  • Nice-to-Have
  • Knowledge of threat intel APIs such as VirusTotal, Abuse.ch, MISP, and OTX.
  • Familiarity with Windows event logs or endpoint telemetry.
  • Experience with Go (not required but favored for long-term scalability).
  • Exposure to React/Next.js is a plus (future risk-rating UI team will integrate with your backend work).
  • Ways of Working
  • Advanced professional spoken and written English skills.
  • Your communication is clear, organized, and assertive.
  • You can work a minimum of 4 hours overlapping with the US Eastern timezone for real-time collaboration with the client.
  • You enjoy working in a small, senior, high-ownership team.
  • You are eager to learn, grow, and have fun while addressing meaningful challenges.
  • What You Will Work On
  • Productizing and extending a Python-based Security Automation Platform that replaces L1/L2 SOC operations.
  • Developing integrations with threat intelligence services (VirusTotal, Abuse.ch).
  • Designing and improving a multi-process automation architecture and a YAML-based workflow engine.
  • Ensuring all development is AI-first, with AI generating 60–70% of the first-draft code.
  • 100% remote and flexible modality.
  • A human-centered experience in a people-first company.
  • Challenging, full-time, and long-term projects with globally admired companies.
  • A strong learning culture and regular pairing sessions to build high-quality code while sharing knowledge.
  • Opportunities for conference participation, OSS contributions, tutorials, blog posts, and technical talks.
  • Exceptionally talented and passionate coworkers.
  • Timely payments, with the flexibility to choose the payment date modality that best suits your needs.
  • A Stack Builders community to support you and grow with you!
  • Ready to become our next builder? We hope you’ll join us!
