  • The Customer Success Team at Code Ocean brings together diverse team members who possess a unique balance of technical and scientific expertise and strong interpersonal skills.
  • We are seeking a Solution Architect / Computational biologist / Bioinformatician with a passion for understanding researchers’ challenges and delivering tailored solutions that drive customer success, foster collaboration, and build lasting partnerships. As a Solution Architect, you will work closely with our clients at some of the world’s most impactful research institutions, biotechnology companies, and pharmaceutical organizations, enabling them to implement transformative data management and analysis ecosystems using Code Ocean products. You will also work collaboratively and closely with stakeholders within the organization, particularly Sales, Product, and R&D teams. In this role, you will provide both our customers and our organization with scientific and technical support, enhancing Code Ocean's long-term value through research, content creation, and innovation.
  • While the working hours for this position are aligned with US Eastern Time, we welcome applications from the following countries: Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and Uruguay.
  • What you’ll do
  • Become a subject matter expert in the features, benefits and applications of the Code Ocean Platform.
  • Predict the client’s reaction and responsiveness to new features and identify solutions that will solve their specific research and business challenges. Lead technical discussions on Platform configuration, automation, cloud cost-efficiency, integrations, etc.
  • Create example capsules, tools, notebooks, and data flows for customers and prospects.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador of Code Ocean, responsible for providing a collaborative and problem-solving environment to our clients.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with customers and internal teams; serve as a customer’s trusted scientific/technical partner.
  • Collaborate with customers to define use cases and success criteria, driving the technical aspects of engagement with Code Ocean.
  • Deliver compelling and accurate product demonstrations, tailored to the audience and their requirements.
  • Lead the technical aspects of pilots/POCs, aligning customer success criteria to Code Ocean solutions.
  • Troubleshoot customer issues and provide customer support, following the progress of issues raised through to resolution.
  • Scope and deliver onboarding training sessions of the Code Ocean platform.
  • Diligently capture the voice of the customer and collaborate with the Product and R&D teams to continuously improve Code Ocean’s product based on accurate market intelligence.
  • Contribute to customer proposals and RFI/RFP responses.
  • Keep abreast of the latest industry developments, particularly with respect to competitors’ offerings.
  • Partner with marketing/product teams on creation of content for awareness, thought leadership, demand generation and sales enablement.
  • Contribute to creating customer documentation, including customer facing release notes and technical guides.
  • Work in a fully remote environment, with occasional 5-20% travel to attend client meetings, conferences, or other events according to business needs.
  • Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computational biology, bioinformatics, data science, computational chemistry, statistics, AI/ML, engineering, or related fields.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a technical customer-facing role (e.g., solution architect, customer success, scientific engagement, professional services, technical sales, functional consulting, etc.)
  • Exceptional team player with ability to collaborate, support and influence others in a calm, constructive, and positive manner.
  • Ability to deliver effective and compelling presentations.
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented approach with a flexible, "can-do" attitude.
  • Strong project management and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity in one or more of the following: Python, R, Bash, Nextflow.
  • Familiarity with AWS or similar cloud computing services and technologies.
  • Experienced with computational research, data science, informatics, or DevOps tools.
  • Equally comfortable in a business and technical context, interacting with executives and technical audiences.

Could be nice, but not required

  • 3+ years of experience in a technical customer-facing role.
  • Knowledge of the Code Ocean platform, or experience working within other computational research environments.
  • Hands-on experience with large-scale research data management (HPC or cloud computing) and/or analysis (e.g. WGS/WES, RNA-seq, single cell, joint calling, GWAS/PheWAS, etc.).
  • Advanced knowledge of public clouds, particularly AWS.
  • Prior experience working in dry lab environments within life sciences organizations.
  • Proficiency in Docker, Git, and/or AI model training/development.
  • Master's or PhD degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Awareness of regulatory requirements such as GxP, ISO27001, and HIPAA.
