• Location and Flexibility
• This is a hybrid role. This model requires the ability to work in a hybrid mode from one of our offices in São Paulo (2 times/ week or 8 days/ month) or Porto Alegre (3 times/ week or 12 days/ month). Our WFN culture is designed to foster in-person innovation, collaboration, and connection with team members local and visiting from other global offices.
• The Opportunity
• As a Senior Software Engineer (Python), you will be a key member of our growing, globally distributed Engineering team. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust and scalable Python-based applications and services. Working with team members across multiple geographies, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions while ensuring best practices in software development and system architecture. Strong English communication skills are essential for effective collaboration in this diverse and international environment.
• Responsibilities
• Design and develop scalable, high-performing, secure, and reliable Python applications that address diverse business needs
• Architect and implement efficient, maintainable, and reusable code solutions
• Lead technical design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions
• Identify opportunities to enhance internal processes, implement automation to streamline manual tasks, and contribute to infrastructure redesign
• Act as a guide and mentor to junior engineers, supporting their professional growth and fostering an inclusive working environment
• Review code, provide constructive feedback, and share expertise with fellow team members, fostering mutual growth and learning
• Collaborate with project managers and product owners to assist in prioritizing, estimating, and planning development tasks
• Troubleshoot production issues and optimize application performance
• Write comprehensive technical documentation and maintain coding standards
• Engage in ongoing research and adoption of new technologies, libraries, frameworks, and best practices to enhance the capabilities of the engineering team
• Qualifications
• BSc, MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or another related subject
• At least 5 years of experience as a Backend Engineer, with a strong focus on building production-level applications
• Extensive experience with Python and its ecosystem, including popular frameworks and libraries (e.g., Django, Flask, FastAPI)
• Strong understanding of software design patterns, algorithms, and data structures
• Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows
• Experience with unit testing, integration testing, and test-driven development
• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and web services
• Experience working with databases (SQL and NoSQL) and data modeling projects
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Effective English communication - able to explain technical and non-technical concepts to different audiences
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines
• Bonus Points
• Experience with AI/ML frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn)
• Experience with cloud platforms and services, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Experience with message queuing systems
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools
